ten questions // getting to know me.

Back when I first started blogging, many moons ago, these little question tags used to pop up. I found one on my computer the other day and thought I would take the time to update my answers.

A little bit more about me...

1 // In your life, what brings you the biggest happiness.

My family. My girls. Growing up I didn't imagine being a mom. Travelling, exploring, learning were what filled my mind when I saw the future. In fact, I remember playing Barbies with my best friend as a girl and they didn't marry Ken, he would lie on the floor in the corner and our girls would move to New York City to live in a penthouse and work as magazine editors. At ten this was my play. I already had itchy feet. Thank goodness my travels led me across the world to the man I love. Without that particular journey I would never have grown and found out that being a mom is my everything. If only I could ship our families here by our sides {L's are over East, mine at the other end of the world}, we would be complete.

2 //  What is the most adventurous thing you've done?

I have done a lot of things that have included adventure in my lifetime. Perhaps the most {so far} is moving across Australia to a remote community 10 hours from the closest town. We spent three years teaching and living in a tiny community in the middle of the desert. I left a piece of my heart there and still daydream about returning for another stint one day.

See all the buildings in this photo? Yup, that is all of them. All. of. them.

My students.

3 // What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

I stumbled upon an amazing place in Laos when I was young with a pack tied to me and no worries in the world. Si phan don {4 thousand islands}. It had me at sa-bai-dee! Palm trees, hammocks and people with huge smiles. Another daydream of returning one day. I have been blessed to see a lot of places. Runner ups? Cape Town, Mt Fuji and anywhere in Northern Ontario.

4 // If you could do one thing tomorrow that you have always dreamed of doing, what would it be?

Move to Tasmania.

5 //  If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Pack up my family, sell our belongings, sell our home, and hit the road to see the world. First stop, Canada for a long overdue reunion.

6 // Favourite memory?

My mom stroking my hair when I was falling asleep. I do this for my girls at night. Also, being carried to my bed from the car by my Dad, I would feel so safe and sleepy. I make sure L does this for our little souls too.

7 // What is your favourite food?

I refuse to choose one. Sorry. Three? Mangoes, pizza, and blue cheese. This is forever changing!

8 // What is one goal that you have not met, but are working to achieve?

Self acceptance. Slowly, slowly.

9 // What do you believe is the greatest flaw among people?

Too many of us spend too much time eating things we don't like, with people we don't like, in places we don't want to be. I think our greatest flaw is believing we have time.

10 // If you only had time to save one thing in your home, what would it be?

I have a memory box for this reason {odd?} with photos, keepsakes and letters. I would take that. I assume people & pets would be safe.

I hereby pass this to you, if you want to share, perhaps choose a question above and leave a reply in the comments.

  3. I'm new to your blog, and really enjoyed reading it! I'm currently living in the Pilbara for my husbands work. When I saw your photo of the red dirt I became a little excited, thinking I'd found a fellow Pilbara blogger!!!
