Please come in and have a peak at a little place of whimsy & delight.
The inspiration
and instructions for the scalloping effect can be found on the Dulux site here.
We chose to use a
canvas it makes a lovely 3D effect by leaning it on the wall shelf. It turned out exactly as
we wanted. The walls are painted in Dulux's Whisper White, a great neutral white for all the pops of colour and texture we chose. The warmth of it helps to make Poppy's small and darker room feel warm and relaxed. It also compliments the brown tones chosen in the decor. I could talk about white paints all day, the choices and effects are amazing.
The monogram circle on the door is a wall sticker from 41 Orchard. The print inside the door is by the amazing Mara Girling from Print Space, an talented group of artists and designers based out of Melbourne. I think it makes the perfect keepsake for a baby.
The cot was bought for Piper to use by her Grandmother and has been passed along. Her {amazingly soft and luscious world's softest cotton}
sheet is from Adairs. As is the Marrakesh Lattice black and white throw rug & the silver velvet cushion.
Her change table
{dresser} is from Ikea. Her change mat cover is from Eco Nino Nursery. Made using GOTS certified100% organic cotton jersey and super easy to launder {necessity!}.
The baskets
scattered around the room are collected treasures and dollar store delights. We sprayed them with Dulux Spray Pak (in pink flamingo & silver enamel} to make them modern and funky. We LOVE how they turned
out. A super fun DIY project.
Her clothing
rack is a painted spice rack from Ikea, we used the same whisper white from the walls. Above it is a basket we were given by a beautiful Martu lady from when we lived in a remote community in the desert. It holds great memory and importance to us.
The curtains are another DIY and were white and dip dyed in pink dye. Then washed to make them have a pink tinge. This lets us play with the mood in the room. The other grey curtains are black-out {again, a nursery necessity around here!}
The nursing chair is a basic Ikea Poang. The cushion is from India and is so bright and
beautiful. The stool is another updone ikea piece with
Dulux Spray Pak in pink flamingo.
On the wall is a print Moon for Neil by Martin Krusche. The joining wall has the most amazing wall stickers by 41 Orchard. I chose to use the simple white clouds on the creamy white walls because I love that you
have to look twice. They are the definition of whimsy to me.
This space is
perfect for use. I can sit and feed Poppy and be transported to a calm and happy
place up in the sky looking down on a colourful and happy haven.
Thank-you for
visiting Poppy's little space.
Stay tuned for
Piper's Vintage Woodsy Wonderland coming next week!
