Piper:: This morning you busied yourself with getting ready for work. In the paper bag you packed some plastic keys, a hair brush, a plastic gorilla, and a wallet with 60c in it. Your two handbags are empty. Then you remembered you needed to pack a lunch...running late you grabbed a basket of food from the kitchen. Busy lady you are nowadays.

Poppy:: We suspect you may be teething. Here you are waiting for your 4 month jabs. Ever so patient and lovely.

big sister.

dear piper,

you have taken on your newest role very seriously. poppy is "your baby" and you do not hesitate for a moment to let everyone who meets her know she is yours. be it by saying proudly that she is "my baby" or by grabbing and pulling her legs/arms/face with a strong and fierce ownership.

if ever poppy is feeling lonely {during quiet moments on her lambswool, sitting in her highchair...} you are sure to be there. helping her move her legs, arms, face and being sure to give very STRONG squeezes. Dad and I are so proud of you for loving her and trying to be "gentle" our new favourite and most used word around here.

you tell poppy about all the things you will do together when she is a big girl. like "playing and dancing and tea parties" as well as all the things she can't do now. "no dora, raisin toast, reading books, riding the dogs." luckily poppy does not seem nearly as phased by these things she is missing out on.

poppy gets so excited when she hears you coming. clearly pain and loud sounds do not intimidate her.

you are quite the big sister already. i have a feeling poppy will grow to be able to squeeze you here and there. until then, gently, we watch you love her.

The birth of a mother.

This quote makes my heart ache. It is the truth behind the journey all mums must take. Whether it is your first or fifth, learning to become a new woman again takes time.
Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful women who I have in my life...the world is a richer place because of you.

mum's the word

Let's be real. By no means does one day count as the only time mums are celebrated. We are constantly shown love, albeit in the form of a late night (or many) cuddle/chat/feed. I do love mother's day though.
This Sunday I am hoping for...

a little time with my beautiful family.

these (hint, hint).

Flowers. These beauties c/o Interflora Flowers. Delivered glistening and creating a huge smile on this mama's face. Order for your mum here. Much nicer than a 2 am cuddle.

Happy Mother's Day.

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

I am doing a catch-up of my 52 project. I managed to pick up the camera but was much distracted from uploading to the blog. Finally, I am finding my feet...

 13/52

Piper:: Easter Sunday. You are wearing the Dora pyjamas that somehow found their way in the door and scoffed far more chocolate than ever before. Don't worry, we learned our lesson and not one bite has entered your mouth since.

Poppy:: Grandma bought you a little bunny. Her name is June, also known as slobber head.

14/52

Piper:: I mentioned that lovey may need to find a new little girl to love. That same day you gripped that blue cloth tighter than ever before. Looks like you are the little girl lovey is meant to be with.

Poppy:: Three months already?! We can't believe it either!

15/52

Piper:: You LOVE your sister. Sometimes you love her a little too hard. Despite the extra strong force you use to show your adoration, Poppy is besotted  by you.

Poppy:: No one in the house can make you smile the way your big sister can. Your eyes sparkle when she enters a room.

16/52

Piper:: Helping your Daddy and Uncle Andrew wash the car. You had another idea for what to do with soapy water and a giant sponge. Top to toe.

Poppy:: Seriously?! Cookie monster with a tiny baby face, I die.

17/52

Poppy:: Such a ham. You love being around people. People love being around you.

Piper:: At the Anzac Parade waiting for Daddy to march past. You parked in one of the spots on the road to watch the world go by.
