Piper was an awful sleeper. A year of silent reflux and two more of average sleep, loads of wakings and the normal cot to bed shenanigans. Poppy seems to be following in her sister's horribly sleep deprived footsteps. Until recently. Where I tried letting her work it out on her own. The result? We are all sleeping, IN OUR OWN BEDS! Hooray. I mean seriously, how precious is sleep?
Another constant hiccup here has been the relentless colds and flus. Spring, summer, autumn, winter...our girls don't care which, they pick them up wherever and whenever they can. This year there has been roseolla, pneumonia, bronchitis, whooping cough and countless endless others.
The lovely folks at Miomee sent us a Nursery Humidifier and it is amazing. Their blurb...
Creates optimal air quality to prevent congestion, soothe coughs and reinforce your baby’s natural immune system. The Miomee® Nursery Humidifier works by using ultrasound waves to break down water molecules into tiny particles. This ventilation system evenly distributes the water particle into dry air, where they evaporate to give the required humidity. Mist or clouding can easily be seen in this device. The built-in ioniser generates negative ions to purify the air, reducing dust and dust allergens.
It does all the above and has made such a change to the sleeping environment, amazing. We had a hot steam one last year, hello mold and ick. Never again. Negative ions be gone!
Do you want one? We love to share the love and are offering a Tommee Tippee® Miomee® Nursery Humidifier ($99.95) to one lucky reader. To win just enter via the Rafflecopter form below. Winner will be notified via email. Good luck.

These sound fantastic! :-D
ReplyDeleteA quietly read story and loving tuck in does wonders
ReplyDeleteRoutine has always worked for us dinner, bath, massage with quiet chat and lights turned down then story time as a family
ReplyDeleteA good routine,
ReplyDeleteA goats milk & manuka honey product in a warm bath,
Cuddles,
A bedtime story,
A soft lullaby playing,
Calming night light,
And some lavender oil under their pillow xx
I always vacuum and clean their room while they are asleep so as the kids get used to noise in the house and always read to them play music and use eucalyptus in the room to help them breathe easier
ReplyDeleteHaving her favourite (safe!) comfort toy visible and in easy reach is essential to my little girl being able to drift off to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI find movement gets baby #3 to sleep during the day, be it pram, car, ergo or swing thing, although this does not always work, she wants to be part of the action! For night sleep, a bath with lavender and chamomile essential oils, massage and loooooonngg breastfeed does the trick for a good 8 hours.
ReplyDeleteWhen she was 5 days old, baby #3 developed a horrible cold with severe blocked nose. We had a terrible time with feeds and sleep. The steam vaporiser was going 24/7 for about 2 weeks solid. The motor burnt out, and we also found her room was quite damp and the windows had grown mould. this humidifier looks great.
Keep calm and your baby/toddler will respond to this and be relaxed too. We keep things very simple - bath, massage, story, cuddles and say goodnight. When they have turned one we have allowed them to take one cuddly toy to bed with them (one that can be washed!). Would be interested in trying a humidifier as my children have Asthma.
ReplyDeleteBeing consistent & patient.

ReplyDeleteBath, book, teeth then bed
ReplyDeleteSame routine in my little one's heads
Keep it consistent, the same each day
Nightime's for sleeping and not for play!
Bathe them prior to giving them a big feed so they are satisfied to last the whole night through!
ReplyDeleteWe've always stuck to the same bedtime routine of bath to help little ones wind down at the end of the day. This vapouriser sounds great... while ours helps when our girls are congested, I wake to find our windows wet!!
ReplyDeleteThese sound awesome, I can't go past the age old bath before bed trick either!
ReplyDeleteA warm bath and a nice relaxing massage with baby lavender oil after always does the trick from my little ones
ReplyDeleteKeeping kids busy during the day will make them have a good sleep at night, because after running and playing around they must be very tired. Also don't let them be too excited before going to bed.
ReplyDeleteA bouncy ball for you to sit on and to hold the munchkin.
ReplyDeleteHey Ashley. I never did work out the secret to getting mine to sleep...as you well know! We've just returned from a stint at PMH with Oscar. This flu season has been a shocker around here.

We moved our one year old into her own bed (much as I loved sleeping snuggled up next to her) and in with her big brothers recently - and it has been magic. We are all getting more sleep, and she is happy because she is still surrounded by people she loves. Still trying to dry up the snot which lingers all winter long in our four-year-old though. I have been wanting one of these to see if it does the trick!
ReplyDeleteRoutine is what worked best for my four.
ReplyDeleteRElaxing bath with Lavender oil massage,Lots of cuddles, storytime, nightlight.
